The Unified Trading Account is the margin account for trading on Polyester.
To place orders on the exchange, funds must be allocated to the Unified Trading Account. Assets held here are used in reserve for open orders and to settle trades.
How Funds Enter the Unified Trading Account
Funds can enter the Unified Trading Account in three ways:
- Transfer from the Funding Account: This is the most common path. See Transfer Funds for details on completing this transfer.
- Transfer from Lending: If a user has funds in a supply pool and wishes to exit, they can transfer directly from Lending into Trading. See Transfer Funds.
- Deposit directly to Trading: During the deposit flow, users may choose to have assets land directly in their Unified Trading Account. See Depositing to Trading for a step-by-step guide.
Assets in the Unified Trading Account
The Unified Trading Account only holds uAssets, which means all balances have already been unified before they enter Trading. This allows Polyester to list fewer markets while providing deeper liquidity and more efficient price discovery for each trading pair.
Assets appear using base tickers only (such as BTC, USDT, and USDC), with no chain-specific variants.
Viewing The Unified Trading Account
Users can access their Unified Trading Account by hovering 'Assets' in the header and selecting Trading Account, or by visiting the dashboard and opening the Unified Trading tab from the sidebar.
From here, users can deposit, withdraw, and transfer trading funds or view balances and transaction history.
Trading Account Balances
The Unified Trading Account displays:
- Available balance – funds free to place new orders
- Reserved balance – funds currently reserved for open orders
- Total balance – sum of available and reserved funds
A portfolio equity chart shows how a user's trading balance has changed over time.
The ‘Tokens’ table provides a per-asset breakdown of balances currently held in the Unified Trading Account.
Using the Unified Trading Account
Once funds are allocated to Trading, users can:
- Explore available markets and pair statistics on the Markets page
- Place spot orders on the Spot Trading page
Order execution and settlement are handled by PolyEngine, Polyester’s trading engine. See PolyEngine Overview for more detail.
